A tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes work is required to protect and steward the region’s natural, scenic and iconic farmlands for future generations, much of which occurs in our main office. Performing this work with integrity is paramount to our success, and we rely on volunteers with excellent skills in relationship management, data entry, database management, and other office administration tasks to achieve our shared mission.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Our office administration volunteers' duties vary by the Conservancy's needs and the strengths of our volunteers. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- Answering our main office phone line
- Database projects
- Stocking and creating presentation books and materials for donors
- Accounts payable
- Credit card reconciliation
- Help with our mailings to supporters
Location
Most office administration tasks occur at our main office in Traverse City, though some projects may be able to be completed remotely.
Qualifications
As our office tasks vary widely, there are no required skills or qualifications, though the following will help with many of our tasks:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent organizational skills
- Familiarity with accounting practices
- Experience with customer relationship management databases
Time Commitment
The time you contribute as an office volunteer is invaluable, and you may volunteer as much as your schedule allows. However, regularly scheduled, weekly time slots work best to arrange the office resources you’ll need, such as a desk, phone and computer. We will work with you to schedule this time.
Training
The Conservancy will provide an overview of our work and relevant training to all our volunteers, and an experienced staff member will provide oversight, training and assistance throughout their service.
If you’re excited to get involved and help GTRLC with our administrative tasks, sign up today to volunteer!
