Protected, owned and managed by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy
Thanks to a donation by Warren and Suzanne Goodell, this sanctuary containing nearly 900 feet of shoreline was permanently protected in Antrim Country’s Milton Township. The primary purpose of the gift, according to the Goodells, is to preserve the wetlands, wildlife habitat, and the visual appearance of the shoreline. “The Goodell property contains an undisturbed, forested conifer swamp with beautiful frontage on Lake Skegemog. Protection of this land will help maintain the water quality of Lake Skegemog because it is an important filtration area for the watershed,” said GTRLC Executive Director Glen Chown when asked in 1993 when this project first came to fruition.
This preserve can be observed from a kayak. Accessing by land could be hazardous and is strongly discouraged.
