This property features substantial tracts of healthy forest and about 1,800 feet of frontage on Bakers Creek, a coldwater tributary of East Grand Traverse Bay. It also contains wetlands that connect to the much larger wetland complex on the south end of East Bay, which includes the George & Ada Reffitt Nature Preserve and Mitchell Creek Meadows: The Don and Jerry Oleson Nature Preserve.
The Natural Area is made up of an 80-acre parcel that had been secured by a citizens’ group (formerly known as the Holiday Woodlands Preserve) and 65 acres of natural land located between that property and the Mt. Holiday Ski Area. The East Bay Township property features a basic trail system that has been used for some time by the Mud, Sweat, and Beers mountain bike race, with improvements to the trail system planned for the future.
