For those 70 1/2 and older, IRA gifts are one of the most tax-wise ways to give: they achieve the same immediate impact as a direct donation, without dipping into your taxable income.
You can donate up to $105,000 from your IRA to the Conservancy without paying any federal income tax. Your gift can be made simply by notifying your IRA plan custodian of your intent to make a qualified charitable distribution to the Conservancy. The distribution is transferred directly from your IRA to the Conservancy and is not subject to federal income taxes.
A gift through your IRA is a win-win situation that both supports you and the work of the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy!
- Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $105,000 from your IRA
- Satisfy some or all of your required minimum distribution
- Reduce your taxable income, even if you don’t itemize deductions
- Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
